Privacy

Last updated 12 October 2026

In short: there's no account. In free mode, your voice and your screen never leave your Mac. With Pro, the recording and a short excerpt of what's on screen are sent to our speech and AI providers to write your text, then discarded. We don't sell anything, we don't use your words to train AI, and this website has no cookies or trackers.

Who is responsible

Mathieu Maree, sole trader (entrepreneur individuel), SIRET 810 568 006 00037, France. For anything about your data: hello@speakprose.app.

Free mode: everything stays on your Mac

Pro: what is sent, and to whom

Pro gets its accuracy from online services. For each dictation, Prose sends, over an encrypted connection:

These providers process the data only to return your text. They don't use it to train their models. OpenAI may keep it for up to 30 days to detect abuse, then deletes it. Nothing is sent when Prose isn't dictating, and nothing at all is sent in free mode.

Why we're allowed to (legal bases)

Data sent outside the EU

OpenAI, Deepgram, Polar's payment partner and Cloudflare may process data in the United States. These transfers rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your personal data, or object to how it's used, by writing to hello@speakprose.app. We answer within a month. Data on your Mac is in your hands: delete it from the app, or remove Prose. If you're not satisfied, you can complain to the CNIL (cnil.fr) or your local data protection authority.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app before it applies. The date at the top always shows the latest version.
